National Homebuilding & Renovating Show - March 2010

More Handles At The National Homebuilding & Renovating Show.
More Handles have had a great week exhibiting at the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show at the NEC Birmingham.

Thanks to all who visited the Stand, it was great to see so many interesting projects under way.  We saw a large cross-section of customers from those who bought direct from us at the show through to customers who are still applying for planning permission!  Well we're at the other end of the project -  but we still had some useful advice to give.

As Paul, one of the More Handles Directors explains; "Meeting customers early on in their self-build or renovation project means we can really help them plan their architectural ironmongery requirements, including specifying all the right products and helping to keep to the all important budget."

Many customers were impressed with the very comprehensive range of products available through More Handles, More Locks and More Switches.  The choice of products available allows them to combine much of their Ironmongery requirements all from one supplier and thereby achieve some excellent discounts across their project. Showcasing a huge range of door handles, door locks, and electrical switches and sockets, there was something for every design and budget.

Planning ahead for the details like all door locks being keyed alike and achieving a matching finish on door handles and light switches really helps the project to have a bespoke and coordinated look.  The advice of the More Handles team was certainly appreciated by many who visited the stand, and we look forward to helping you all with your projects over the coming months.

Please contact the More Handles team to discuss your own project and see how we can help.

New! Square Door Handles - It's Hip To Be Square

More Handles announces it's new range of Square Door Handles.
 "Square" - Defined as;
1. Something having an equal-sided rectangular form.
2. The product obtained when a number is multiplied by itself.
3. A person who is regarded as dull and out of touch with current trends.

Well we would like to disagree with the last one! Many of our door handle manufacturers are now introducing new styles of door handles on rose with a square design theme.

Some of the designs are influenced by ultra-modern and contemporary styles, some with a Cubism twist, and some with a more modern take on the original art-deco styles.

Available in a range of finishes including Polished Chrome, Satin Chrome, Satin Nickel and Black Nickel, they can be coordinated with most interior design schemes, and certainly make a bold statement.

Matching Turn & Release and Escutcheons are available in the square designs, and they even match well with various electrical switch and socket plate designs.

More Handles has a dedicated Square Door Handles section on their website making it easy to browse through the different designs and see what is available.

Please contact More Handles if you have any questions or to discuss your requirements further.

And remember - It's definitely 'hip to be square'.

Black Nickel Door Handles

More Handles is pleased to announce the launch of the new Black Nickel Door Handle Range from Carlisle Brass.
The Serozzetta Range from Carlisle Brass has recently been expanded to include a new and very attractive contemporary Black Nickel finish.  The finish is best described as a blend of Polished Chrome and Matt Black, it has a deep black lustre with a mirror finish.

Carlisle Brass have applied this finish to some of their best selling contemporary door handles, including the Verde Door Handle, Cube Door Handle, Equi Door Handle and others.

With matching accessories such as Escutcheons and Turn & Release in the same Black Nickel finish a fully coordinated look is possible.

Through the More Switches Department you can even source Electrical switches and sockets in the matching Black Nickel finish.
Please contact More Handles to discuss your requirements.

Flush Pull Handles - Great for Sliding and Folding Doors

Flush Pull Door Handles provide a stylish and useful alternative to conventional door handles.

Especially useful for Sliding Doors and Folding Doors, the benefit of a Flush Pull Handle is that the projection from the door is only a matter of millimetres, and if recessed can even be made to be exactly flush.

This is particularly useful for Pocket Sliding Doors - where the door disappears into a wall recess, and Folding Sliding Doors to allow them to fold flat.

More Handles has a great range of Flush Pull Door Handles in Brass, Chrome, and Steel finishes, with both traditional and contemporary designs.

Certain Flush Pull Handles are specifically designed for cabinet and cupboard doors, which continues the theme through to Kitchen or Bedroom cabinets.

Please contact More Handles to discuss your requirements.

Sliding Door Locks - Available at MoreHandles.co.uk

Sliding Doors are a popular and long established style of door in mainland Europe and are gaining in popularity here in the UK.

Often used in hotels and apartments, because of their space saving capabilities, the contemporary designs now available also means that architects and interior designers are making much more use of the Sliding Door in both commercial and residential applications.

Sliding Doors are appropriate in many different situations, and are made in all kinds of different sizes and materials.  Usually supported on a hanging rail they simply hang over the wall space when open.  There is a growing trend to fitting Pocket Sliding Doors, where the door recesses into a special cavity in the wall itself, and is therefore completely invisible when open.

More Handles are pleased to announce they have an excellent range of Sliding Door Locks, along with Flush Handles & Pull Handles.

Locking a Sliding Door requires a Hook Lock rather than the standard Bolt to secure the door shut.  Available in a range of finishes and different styles, More Handles can supply many direct from stock here in the UK, and can order other variations with a 2-3 week despatch.

Please call the team at More Handles if you have any questions.

How To Measure A Euro Profile Cylinder Lock

Cylinder Locks are easy to fit and replace, however you do need to have the right size for your door. Here we show you how to measure the size of the Cylinder for your door.
.
1 - Open the door and view from the edge of the door at lock level.

2 - Locate the Securing Bolt on the edge of the door at the exact height of the Cylinder Lock.

3 - Measure from the centre of the Securing Bolt to the outer edge of the handle backplate on the outside of the door.

4 - Now measure from the centre of the Securing Bolt to the outer edge of the handle backplate on the inside of the door.

These measurements may be identical, in which case you need to choose a Standard Double Cylinder.  If the Outside and Inside measurements are not identical you will need to specify an Offset Double Cylinder. (Ensure you specify carefully which measurement is Inside and which is Outside when choosing an Offset Cylinder with Turn.)

We recommend that your Cylinder does not protrude through the door handle plate by any more than 5mm for added security.

More Handles supplies the complete range of Eurospec Cylinder Locks including high security 15 Pin and keyed alike and master keyed services.  Please call us to discuss your requirements or if you have any questions.

How To Fit A Euro Profile Cylinder Lock

Cylinder Locks are easy to fit or replace. Here we show you how to fit a Euro Profile Cylinder Lock.
.
1 - Open the door and view from the edge of the door at lock level.

2 - Locate the Securing Bolt on the edge of the door at the exact height of the Cylinder Lock. This bolt holds the Cylinder in place inside the lock case.

3 - Using a screwdriver simply unscrew the bolt and keep in a safe place. The Cylinder is now free in the lock case but may not be loose as the Cylinder operating catch may be engaged and holding it in place.

4 - Using the key turn the lock slightly to the left or right, pulling gently on the cylinder until you feel it loosen.  Turning the key will have released the operating catch from the lock case and left it flush inside the Cylinder.

5 - You should now be able to easily pull the loose Cylinder out of the door.

To fit a new Cylinder simply follow these instructions in reverse, taking care to ensure the Securing Bolt gets a solid fix and is not cross threaded.

Please click here for instructions on how to measure a Cylinder Lock correctly.

More Handles supplies the complete range of Eurospec Cylinder Locks including high security 15 Pin and keyed alike and master keyed services.  Please call us to discuss your requirements or if you have any questions.

A Guide To Cylinder Locks - Key System Options

A major benefit of Cylinder Locks is the ability to create different Key System Options.  These are particularly important in commercial applications but are also useful in simple form for domestic applications. Here we explain briefly the different options available.

KTD - Keyed To Differ
A single Cylinder with an Individual Key pattern.

KA - Keyed Alike
Any number of Cylinders all opened by the Same Key pattern.

MK - Master Keyed System
Any number of Cylinders each with an Individual Key pattern, a single Master Key opens all Cylinders in the system.

GMK - Grand Master Key System
Any number of Cylinders each with an Individual Key pattern, a single Master Key opens a defined group of Cylinders but not other defined groups. A Grand Master Key opens all Cylinder in all groups.

CK Construction Key
The Construction key is used during installation, allowing workmen full access to all areas.  The main key is then used to recode the Cylinder and to automatically exclude the Construction Key.

More Handles is able to provide a complete Master-Key system via Eurospec. This can be applied to internal and external doors and even padlocks.  Please contact us to discuss your individual requirements.
